Heading to the Cape? We'll check your spare, advise on tyre pressures for corrugated tracks and set you up with the right rubber to get there and back without a blow-out.
Running a lift kit? We'll make sure your tyre and rim combination clears properly, with the right offset and load rating for your build. No rubbing, no headaches.
Black, chrome, bronze, beadlock — we stock and fit aftermarket rims to suit every 4WD build. Talk to us about a complete tyre and rim package for your vehicle.
Essential after any serious off-road trip. FNQ's corrugated roads knock alignments out fast. Keep your tyres wearing evenly and your vehicle tracking straight.
Every build fitted right here at Tuff Tyres FNQ in Cairns or Gordonvale.
For Cape York we generally recommend a quality mud-terrain like the Maxxis Trepador or BF Goodrich MT-TA KM3. The corrugated roads, creek crossings and sharp rocks up there are hard on tyres — you want something with a tough sidewall and aggressive tread. We'll talk through your specific vehicle and trip plan to recommend the best option.
It depends on your lift height, wheel offset and vehicle model. Generally a 2-inch lift allows up to 33-inch tyres, and a 3-4 inch lift can accommodate 35s on most vehicles. Bring your vehicle in and we'll measure it up properly before recommending a size.
An all-terrain (AT) tyre is the perfect balance for most FNQ drivers. The BF Goodrich KO2 and Maxxis AT811 are our most popular choices — quiet enough for highway driving but more than capable on gravel roads and light tracks.
Yes — we stock a wide range of aftermarket rims in black, chrome, bronze and beadlock styles to suit all 4WD vehicles. We can put together a complete tyre and rim package for your build. Come in or call for a quote.
For corrugated outback roads most 4WDs benefit from airing down to around 28-32 PSI depending on your load. For soft sand like beach driving you can go lower — 18-22 PSI. Always reinflate to highway pressures before getting back on the bitumen. We're happy to advise on the right pressures for your specific vehicle and trip.
